The Senate on Wednesday passed a bill seeking to establish the City University of Technology, Auchi, Edo and two other tertiary institutions in the country. Others were the Nigerian Maritime University Okerenkoko, Delta State, and the Federal College of Education, Giwa, Kaduna. The three bills were passed by the upper chamber following a clause-by-clause consideration of the report of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TetFund. A Policeman was caught on camera counting a sum of N50,000 he allegedly extorted from some ex-corps members who were on their way home after the Passing out Parade held nationwide on Thursday. According to a man identified as Obiora, they were on their to Ontisha from Enugu state where they just completed their mandatory one-year youth service. The policemen accused them of being internet fraudsters and requested a sum of N300,000, which was negotiated to N50,000. Popular Nigerian Instagram influencer and suspected Internet fraudster, Ramon Abass, aka Hushpuppi, has been transferred to California for trial. Mr Abbas, 37, who was resident in Dubai and known for flaunting extravagant lifestyle on social media, was arrested last month over money laundering allegations. He was extradited to the U.S on July 3. The Federal Bureau of Investigation had earlier alleged that Mr Abbas was part of a network that made “hundreds of millions of dollars” from business email compromise frauds and other scams. The Nigeria Air Force (NAF) have revealed that Tolulope Arotile, Nigeria’s First female combat helicopter pilot, was hit with a car driven by her ex-classmate Tolulope Arotile died at age 24 as a result of head injuries she sustained from the accident, which happened at the Nigerian Air Force base in Kaduna state. The death of the Flying Officer was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday night by the Director of Public Relations and Information Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola. Flying Officer Arotile was winged as the first ever female combat helicopter pilot in the Nigerian Air Force on 15 October 2019, after completing her flying training in South Africa.
