A city in China is planning to launch an ‘artificial moon’ that will light up the skies as far as 50 miles around. The so-called illumination satellite set to deploy over the southwestern city of Chengdu in 2020 is touted to be eight times as bright as the real moon, to cast a ‘dusk-like glow’ over the region, according to the People’s Daily. Officials have released few details on the project, but say the idea pulls inspiration from a French artist who envisioned a necklace of mirrors hanging over Earth. Controversial Ghanaian pastor Daniel Obinim has been fined by a court for flogging young lovers over sex. The pastor who flogged two young lovers in church two years ago has been fined 12,000 cedis ($2400) for the action. A Circuit Court in Accra, Ghana, on Tuesday handed down the ruling against Daniel Obinim of the International God’s Way Church and two other junior pastors for their roles in the assault. A viral video in 2016 showed Obinim and his pastors publicly flogging a young man and woman he described as his children. The two, had been involved in a sexual relation that had eventually led to pregnancy. Obinim was subsequently arrested by police in the industrial region of Tema after he handed himself in following an invitation from the police over the widely publicized flogging. Nigerian writer, speaker, and activist, Chimamanda Adichie has said she is not a fan of bride price and wants it to be gotten ridden of. Adichie had an evening with some young people in Lagos yesterday, and someone asked a question about the traditional practice. According to her, her dad didn’t receive any bride price during her wedding, he just collected 10kobo to make it symbolic. She also revealed she is not a fan of bride price because it ruins things. She said; “I am not a fan of bride price. I think we should get rid of the whole idea of money in marriage, it ruins things. We are not selling anybody”. A 44-year-old woman, Jane Govender and her two daughters, were brutally murdered by her boyfriend at their home in Durban, South Africa, an attack that got the suspect arrested. Jane Govender’s husband who was on a night shift and was not at home at the time of the murder, returned to see the corpse of his wife and daughter Rackelle, 16 at about 07:30 on Friday morning. It was gathered that the body of their elder daughter, 22-year-old Denisha, was later found in a cupboard. Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane who confirmed the incident, told newsmen that even though a post-mortem is being conducted, it is believed that Jane and Rackelle had been strangled, while Denisha had been stabbed. A Nigerian Catholic Priest identified as Rev. Father Collins Ekpe, reportedly died in Chicago, United States, few years after he relocated to the country for study. The Nigerian Catholic Priest whose death left his friends, family and loved ones in anguish, was the parish priest of St. Kizito Catholic Church in Kuje, Abuja from 2008-2013. Barely few days after a Nigerian man was killed in  South Africa  while returning from an event, the Nigerian community in South Africa has also confirmed the killing of one Chibuzo Nwankwo, a 42-year-old man from  Enugu State . The death of Nwankwo who was shot in the early hours of Friday at a local bar in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, following a disagreement, brings to 121 the number of Nigerians killed in South Africa since January 2016.
