Senate upgrades Auchi Poly to University

The Senate on Wednesday passed a bill seeking to establish the City University of Technology, Auchi, Edo and two other tertiary institutions in the country. Others were the Nigerian Maritime University Okerenkoko, Delta State, and the Federal College of Education, Giwa, Kaduna. The three bills were passed by the upper chamber following a clause-by-clause consideration of the report of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TetFund. Policeman caught counting N50,000 he extorted from ex-corps members

A Policeman was caught on camera counting a sum of N50,000 he allegedly extorted from some ex-corps members who were on their way home after the Passing out Parade held nationwide on Thursday. According to a man identified as Obiora, they were on their to Ontisha from Enugu state where they just completed their mandatory one-year youth service. The policemen accused them of being internet fraudsters and requested a sum of N300,000, which was negotiated to N50,000. Ray Hushpuppi transferred to California for trial

Popular Nigerian Instagram influencer and suspected Internet fraudster, Ramon Abass, aka Hushpuppi, has been transferred to California for trial. Mr Abbas, 37, who was resident in Dubai and known for flaunting extravagant lifestyle on social media, was arrested last month over money laundering allegations. He was extradited to the U.S on July 3. The Federal Bureau of Investigation had earlier alleged that Mr Abbas was part of a network that made “hundreds of millions of dollars” from business email compromise frauds and other scams.
