A man was shot three times in the head in what is believed to be a case of mistaken identity. The shooting, which happened outside a suspected drug den in Bonteheuwel  on Monday  night, is believed to have been gang-related. 26-year-old Sherwyn Roberts had been standing in front of the gate when three gunmen walked up to him and shot at him continuously, with three of the shots landing on his head. He was still alive when police arrived Jasmine Street at about  7:50 p.m.  and took him to Groote Schuur hospital where he later died. He had reportedly been with a couple of female friends prior to the shooting and one of the women asked him to buy drugs for her.  It is believed the shooters had planned to kill a suspected gangster who lives at the house, but they mistook Sherwyn for their target and shot him instead. Two suspected thieves that have been terrorizing residents of Ijagun Town, Ogun State were apprehended on May 25. According to Oluwasanmi Adedamola, the suspects usually storm different female hostels to steal laptops, phones, clothes and other valuables at gunpoint. They are alleged to have raped some students during the attacks.

Two commercial sex workers in Ogun state have been arrested by the state police command for allegedly killing one of their customers, Adeyinka Olayinka, at the KS Hotel, Ifo yesterday May 30th. According to a statement by the state police public relations officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the commercial sex workers, Kudirat Raji alias Angela and Esther Basiru, stabbed the deceased with a broken bottle during an argument. The deceased had on the night of the incident, contracted Kudirat to pass the night with him and had agreed on a price to pay her. He however reneged on their agreement and this led to an argument. “The victim was supervising an ongoing construction work on his property and so he spent the night at the hotel. He contracted Kudirat Raji to pass the night with him on an agreed amount but reneged on their agreement. His refusal to pay the agreed amount led to a hot argument between them. Pandemonium broke out in Ikun Ekiti in Ekiti state yesterday night when some masquerades invaded the central mosque in the community and attacked the Muslim faithfuls who were praying in the mosque. According to residents of the community, the masquerades were annoyed with the Muslims because they called for prayers while they were celebrating their festival, an act that is prohibited by their tradition. Tension mounted among youths in Jiwa and Gwagwa communities in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) over the killing of a middle-aged man on 27th of May in Jiwa for urinating near a mosque, located in the community. According to an eyewitness, the man, whose name was not immediately disclosed to newsmen, was passing through one of the streets in the village, and then decided to urinate in a drainage, close to a mosque. However, just as he was doing that, a man who was sitting at the front of the mosque and watching him, picked a stone and threw at him. Blueprint gathered that when the man had finished urinating, he picked the same stone and threw it back at the same man. This action prompted some youths who were at the mosque to descend on him and gave him the beating of his life. Unidentified gunmen numbering four  yesterday  killed the newly sworn-in Secretary of Ukanafu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.  Late Ime Atakpa was shot dead in his country home Ikot Udo Ubobo on Easter Sunday, April 16th. His wife, Imo, who disclosed this to newsmen said they went to Ukanafun for Easter service. Before they left, he decided to check on some pigs in the farm at their backyard. While she and the children were in the house, she heard gunshots. When she tried to find the source of the gunfire, she saw four masked men walking away from the compound. Spokesperson for the Akwa Ibom Police Command, DSP Chukwu Ikechukwu, who confirmed the incident said the gunmen numbering four shot the late council secretary in the stomach. He died on the way to the hospital.  "The man was in his farm in Ukanafun LGA when four unidentified gunmen shot him" said Mr Ikechukwu.
